Whether it was destiny or dumb luck, Vance literally wandered into the theatre at age 10.
Having aimlessly drifted several blocks from home, he took a curious peek inside the doors of a neighborhood building. A friendly member of what turned out to be the local community theatre group invited Vance to come inside and have a look around. Within an hour, Vance had been cast in the McKeesport Little Theatre's production of Tom Sawyer. Since that time he has performed in over thirty other productions.

Vance is a gifted playwright with a unique point of view and rare appreciation for style. He's also a rare "triple threat" theater artist with the skills to create the book for a show, as well as compose the music and craft the lyrics. Fascinated by the power of live music to uplift and inspire, most of his original pieces are straight ahead musicals with broad appeal.
Vance's love of period styles, manner and movement naturally led him into two other areas of theatre writing: plays for children and adaptations of classic works. Vance has authored adaptations of Moliere's The Miser, Goldsmith's She Stoops to Conquer and Calderon's La Vida es Sueno among others.
